Description

The CNA II is responsible for providing assigned residents with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the residents assessment and care plan, and as directed by supervisors. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Administrative Functions: Use wristband and photo ID to identify residents, document cares in EMR, report changes in residents' conditions, ensure confidentiality, and report unauthorized access or disclosures.
  2. Personnel: Perform tasks according to policies, cooperate with staff, create a positive environment, meet regularly with nursing staff, and report complaints or incidents.
  3. Personal Nursing Care Functions: Participate in nursing reports, obtain vital signs and weights, assist with grooming, monitor skin, perform treatments, assist with bowel and bladder care, track fluid intake, and assist with mobility and transfers.
  4. Food Service Functions: Prepare residents for meals, serve food, assist with feeding, record intake, and perform after-meal care.
  5. Staff Development: Attend training, orientation, and in-service programs.
  6. Safety and Sanitation: Practice hand hygiene, respond to alarms, monitor safety devices, follow isolation precautions, and report communicable diseases.
  7. Equipment and Supply Functions: Use equipment safely, report defects, and inform needs.
  8. Resident Rights: Maintain confidentiality, treat residents with kindness and respect, report abuse or property misappropriation, and honor treatment refusals.
  9. Working Conditions: Follow regulations, adhere to care plans, work in various settings, respond to emergencies, and complete training.
  10. Qualifications: High school diploma or HSE, current NYS CNA certification, CPR certification, computer proficiency, and ability to communicate effectively in English. Knowledge of geriatric care is essential.
