Security Officer

Hiring Range: $18.74 to $24.36
Pay Range: $18.74 to $27.17

Summary of Job Responsibilities:

The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the protection of employees, customer-owners, and visitors by protecting the property against illegal entry, theft, disturbances, fire, harm, and vandalism. The Security Officer enforces policies, provides assistance and direction, responds to emergencies, and protects property through access control, patrols, crime prevention activities, and investigations of unusual activities. They play a critical role in ensuring a positive and safe experience for everyone on site.

Qualifications:

SCF programs serve primarily Alaska Native people affiliated with Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), and Alaska Native and American Indian people within SCF’s service area. Employees should understand the cultures and needs of this population to help achieve SCF’s vision of wellness and its mission of working with the Native Community to promote health and related services:

  1. Associate degree in criminal justice, sociology, criminal law, or a related field; OR two (2) years’ experience in military, law enforcement, security, or similar roles; OR an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  2. Certification in Basic Life Support within six (6) months of hire.
  3. Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) Basic Level from IAHSS or obtain it within six (6) months of hire.
  4. Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (CAHSO) from IAHSS or obtain it within two (2) years of hire.
  5. Must be at least 18 years old.
  6. Qualified SCF driver requirements include:
  7. Valid Alaska driver’s license meeting DMV requirements; may drive in Alaska for up to 90 days with an out-of-state license, then must obtain an Alaska license.
  8. No more than three (3) moving violations or two (2) at-fault accidents in the past three years.
  9. No DUI, DWI, or OUI violations in the past five years; no more than two violations in the past ten years.
  10. Drivers aged 18-20 may only transport equipment, materials, and employees; drivers 21+ may transport customers after probation.
  11. Provide a current driving record no more than 60 days old prior to hire.

Native Preference:

SCF pursues Native preference in hiring, contracting, and training, in accordance with P.L. 93-638, as amended. HR must receive certification before applicants are given preference.

Compliance with our Employee Health Procedure is required. All job-related health screenings and immunizations must be completed prior to employment, including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, Tdap, and COVID-19 vaccinations for designated Healthcare Personnel positions.
