JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Security Architect is a pivotal role within the Information Security department and is entrusted to develop and implement robust security frameworks across the organization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and enhance our cybersecurity defense, ensuring compliance with regulatory compliance & industry standards, and leading initiatives to align with Cyber Security standards. The Security Architect work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Security Architecture Design:
• Develop, review, and refine security architecture for both on-premises applications and cloud-based solutions.
• Assist with defining secure reference architectures to support cloud migration and modernization initiatives.
• Evaluate and recommend security patterns, controls, and configurations for applications, data, and infrastructure.
Risk Assessment & Threat Modeling:
• Conduct architecture reviews, risk assessments, and threat modeling for both legacy and cloud systems.
• Identify security gaps, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations within infrastructure and application designs.
• Propose risk mitigation strategies aligned with business and technical objectives.
Security Standards & Governance:
• Contribute to the development and enforcement of enterprise security standards, policies, and secure coding guidelines.
• Ensure designs align with NIST CSF, CIS Benchmarks, and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR).
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Partner with engineering, infrastructure, development, and business teams to integrate security into system lifecycles.
• Provide architectural guidance and security consultation during project planning, design, and implementation phases.
• Communicate technical risks and trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Tooling & Vendor Engagement:
• Participate in evaluating security tools and technologies (e.g., EDR, WAF, IAM, encryption, monitoring).
• Support security vendor selection, Proof of Concept (POC) efforts, and solution integration activities.
• Stay current with emerging security technologies, threats, and architectural best practices.
Operational Security Support:
• Assist with incident response efforts by providing architectural insights during investigations.
• Review and enhance system hardening, segmentation, identity management, and data protection controls.
• Support the integration of legacy systems with modern identity and access management platforms.
COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications include:
• Demonstrated expertise with securing hybrid IT environments, including legacy on-premises applications and cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of network security, application security, and identity management principles.
• Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls) and regulatory standards (PCI DSS, GDPR).
• Experience with architectural reviews, threat modeling, and secure design methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant certifications preferred: CISSP, CCSP, AWS/Azure Security Specialty, or equivalent.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, applied with a solution-focused attitude.
• Excellent written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to write with purpose, clarity, and accuracy.
• Ability to travel internationally and must be flexible working in an environment that Is 24x7x365, as needed.
EXPERIENCE:
Outlined below are the academic qualifications and length and type of experience deemed necessary by Unique Vacations Inc. in order to perform the role of Security Architect competently.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology or related field.
Experience: 4+ years of experience in security architecture, engineering, or related security disciplines.
