Overview

The Assistant Director of Admissions at Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) plays a critical leadership role within the Office of Admissions. This position supports the strategic planning, development, and execution of recruitment and admissions initiatives aligned with the university’s enrollment goals. The Assistant Director assists in managing day-to-day admissions operations, supports the admissions review process, and ensures efficient communication and processing for prospective students. The role reports to and collaborates closely with the Associate Director of On-Campus Admissions and supervises team members to help achieve institutional enrollment targets. The position is detail oriented and maintains accurate electronic and paper personnel action records. This summary is not intended to be a comprehensive or all-inclusive description of duties. Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year in admissions, enrollment, or a related higher education field; 3 years preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with CRM systems (such as Slate, Element, or Salesforce) and Student Information Systems (SIS).
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with higher education trends and enrollment best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Position Duties

  • Develop and enforce admissions policies and procedures aligned with institutional goals.
  • Oversee application evaluations, ensuring accurate and timely review of academic credentials.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and administrative offices to promote programs and support applicants.
  • Improve efficiency and accuracy of application processing systems.
  • Monitor and analyze admissions funnel data to drive strategy, enhance efficiency, and support enrollment goals.
  • Maintain detailed records of applicant data and enrollment trends.
  • Provide exceptional support and communication to prospective students and families.
  • Train and supervise admissions staff, ensuring tasks are completed effectively and professionally.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and shared leadership across the team.
  • Coordinate with departments such as Student Success, Recruitment, and the Graduate School to streamline enrollment efforts.
  • Leverage CRM and SIS tools (e.g., Slate, Element, Salesforce, Banner) to manage applications, communication flows, and reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and completes special projects as requested.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. Note: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
