Compensation: $43.55 - $43.55/hourly

Tessera is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious High Voltage Electrician to support power distribution operations at USAFA. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting high voltage electrical systems and equipment across underground and overhead primary distribution networks, substations, and electric vaults. The technician ensures all work is performed in accordance with National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA, OSHA, and Department of Defense (DoD) safety standards.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Install, maintain, and repair high voltage components including transformers, circuit breakers, insulators, and protective devices
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical faults and perform corrective actions to ensure reliable power distribution
  • Operate aerial trucks, bucket lifts, and specialized equipment to access elevated or remote systems
  • Perform work in substations, electric vaults, and underground/overhead high voltage distribution networks
  • Follow strict safety protocols including lockout/tagout, arc flash protection, and use of PPE
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals to plan and execute tasks
  • Maintain accurate service records and coordinate outages and repairs with base personnel using CMMS

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high voltage electrical systems, preferably in military or federal environments
  • Valid High Voltage Electrician Journeyman License in good standing
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, materials, and safety standards for systems above 600 volts
  • General mechanical aptitude and knowledge of electronic control circuitry
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910 Subpart S, and DoD electrical infrastructure standards
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather condition

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.
  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.
  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
