Job Summary:
The
Housing Peer Advocate
is an integral member of the FLACRA team, providing peer support services to individuals with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders. This role emphasizes mentorship, advocacy, and motivational support to help clients achieve long-term recovery. Additionally, the Housing Peer Advocate supports administrative functions, including Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data entry, while promoting recovery-focused outcomes.
Must-Have Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Valid NYS Driver’s License with the ability to use a personal vehicle for client visits. Lived experience with homelessness and substance use disorder and/or mental illness. Willingness to participate in peer certification training, with the goal of obtaining CRPA-P certification within 4 months of employment. Nice-to-Have Qualifications: Certification as a Certified Peer Support Specialist (NYCPS) through OMH or OASAS. Certified Peer Advocate (CRPA).
