Job Summary: The
Emergency Department Transportation – Recovery Peer Advocate
is an integral part of our Yates County treatment services team. This role supports clients with substance use disorders by facilitating transportation to treatment services (particularly those related to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder) and providing peer support throughout their recovery journey. As a role model and advocate, you will empower clients through your personal recovery experience, while ensuring accurate documentation and effective communication across our care network.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Completion of NY State-certified Peer Support Specialist training through OMH or OASAS. Valid NYS Driver’s License. Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including overnight coverage. Certification:
Tier 1:
Must participate in the initial peer certification training and obtain CRPA-P within 4 months of employment. Tier 2:
Certification as a CRPA-P or CRPA.
Lived experience with substance use disorders and/or mental health recovery is required.
Skills & Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively with culturally diverse individuals, staff, and community service providers. Ability to multitask, solve problems, and manage time effectively in high-pressure or crisis situations. Proficiency with electronic records and data tracking systems (E-record). Comfortable delivering services in various community settings.
