Overview HR Director Our client is seeking a seasoned HR Director to provide strategic leadership across human resources, security, and IT functions while fostering a positive company culture. This individual will balance strategic oversight with hands-on execution, build strong relationships with leadership and staff, and create a workplace where employees feel valued, respected, and supported. This role is fully onsite in Portland, Oregon. HR Director Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of six direct reports, including HR Generalists, Recruiter, IT, and administrative staff, ensuring collaboration and alignment with company goals. Oversee recruitment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, compliance, safety, and physical security programs. Drive initiatives to bring payroll in-house, select HR/benefits systems, and support self-funded benefits strategies. Partner closely with executive leadership to influence culture, provide candid counsel, and implement solutions that balance creativity with business needs. Ensure compliance with Oregon employment laws and regulations while maintaining a positive, employee-focused environment. Advocate for and implement HRIS or other tools that improve processes, while balancing financial priorities. Promote a professional, business-casual workplace culture that values integrity, flexibility, and continuous improvement. HR Director Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR generalist experience, with at least 5 years in a director-level leadership role. HR certification (PHR/SPHR or equivalent) required. Proven supervisory experience managing HR teams and cross-functional staff. Strong knowledge of Oregon employment laws and compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with practical execution and problem-solving. Experience in manufacturing or production environments preferred, but not required. Integrity, honesty, and accountability with the ability to own mistakes and foster trust. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to zero-drama, collaborative culture. Familiarity with payroll transitions, HRIS implementation, or self-funded benefits administration is highly desirable.
