Sun Commodities is a privately held company. We are one of the main players in the wholesale of produce in the State of Florida. Sun distributes produce locally, internationally and services the cruise industry.

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count merchandise. The Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties.

The job will include, but not be limited to:

  • Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.
  • Efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate areas.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality
  • variances.
  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into storage locations.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage product and materials using a forklift, clamp truck,or other power equipment. Use radio frequency equipment for picking, receiving, putaway, and load functions, as required.
  • Maintain the facility's equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • On a daily basis, inspect and perform minor maintenance on the forklift or other equipment.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.
  • Returning undelivered product to their proper inventory locations.
  • Moving and stacking product for the purpose of conducting physical inventory.
  • Perform the cleaning and maintenance duties as may be directed by the warehouse supervisor.
  • Observes safe product handling techniques. Cooperates with supervisors and peers alike.
  • Hand stacking product in a specific sequence and location to ensure proper rotation.
  • Assist in physical inventories and cycle counting as directed.
  • Various other duties, as assigned.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.
  • Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and MSDS Standards.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School education or GED preferred.
  • Able to read and write legibly
  • Able to follow orders; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide.
  • 1-2 years of forklift operation experience in a fast paces warehouse environment
  • Must be able to take directions in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision in a team environment
