Senior Technical Program Manager, Amazon Photos

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager to lead a team building foundational services that power core features across our ecosystem, handling everything from content processing to ML model serving at massive scale.

The right candidate for this role has both a strong technical background and either technical management or program/product management experience. You must be comfortable working with service-oriented architectures and large, complex data sets. You must have a diverse set of unblocking tools and mechanisms, resulting in the ability to cultivate relationships and earn trust with teams inside and outside of your organization. You must thrive in both startup and mature business environments, be truth-seeking, and be willing to not only operate strategically but also roll up your sleeves to get the job done yourself. No idea is too big to consider, and no task is too small to deliver on.

A Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) will partner with engineers, other TPMs, Product Managers and senior management to help create world-class solutions. We are looking for people who are passionate about innovating on behalf of customers and demonstrate a high degree of product ownership. The ideal TPM is a creative, demonstrated leader with superior analytical abilities and an expeditious drive to deliver results. This opportunity requires deep technical, problem-solving and communication skills.

About the team: We operate at massive scale, processing billions of photos while maintaining high availability and low latency. Our team leverages technologies in distributed systems, computer vision, and machine learning to create innovative solutions that delight customers. We are building the future of how people interact with their memories, using AI to create more personalized and meaningful experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team building foundational services powering core features across the Amazon Photos ecosystem, including content processing and ML model serving at scale.
  • Partner with engineers, other TPMs, Product Managers and senior leadership to create world-class solutions with strong product ownership.
  • Collaborate across service-oriented architectures and large data sets; unblock teams and build trust with stakeholders inside and outside the organization.
  • Operate in both startup and mature environments, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams
  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management experience with software engineering teams
  • Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk and critical path management
  • Experience managing projects across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience defining KPIs/SLAs used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
