Overview
Medical Assistant/Certified Phlebotomy Tech (Bilingual English Spanish) – School Health. We are currently hiring Nationally Certified Medical Assistant / Phlebotomy Technicians (Bilingual Spanish/English) for our School Based Health Care Centers located in elementary, middle, and high schools. Health Care Services Representatives, or 'HCSR II's', are Nationally Certified Phlebotomists who possess a Medical Assistant Certificate.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant AND National Certification as Phlebotomy Technician required OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) required.
- Candidates with previous experience in a health care or school-based setting strongly preferred.
- Previous experience working with children and adolescents is a strong plus.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bilingual Spanish/English required.
- Knowledge of taking vital signs, phlebotomy, and medical administration tasks.
Responsibilities
- Process blood draws; collect specimens for laboratory testing.
- Prepare examination rooms and equipment.
- Participate in health and wellness activities and health education when required.
- Obtain vital signs, chief complaints, and medical history and accurately record in medical records.
- Complete referrals and discharge patients.
- Assist providers and nurses during all aspects of exams.
- Assist provider during visit with treatments, examinations, and procedures.
- Schedule appointments, verify insurance and demographic information.
- Process diagnostic orders.
Compensation and Benefits
Starting Compensation: Minimum: $21.00/hour; Maximum: $21.00/hour; Additional $1,500/annum differential pay.

Work Environment, Location, and Schedule
The HCSR-II will work onsite within our Queens-based School Based Health Center located at Elmhurst Educational Campus, 45-10 94th Street, Elmhurst, NY 11373. Schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends. Training for the first 1-2 weeks will take place in the Bronx.
