Overview
Fiber Optic Technician/Tester role onboarded through Jobs via Dice. The position is with FLEX as an independent contractor on a project basis, supporting GPU infrastructure deployment projects across the U.S. Location preference is East Coast, but open to domestic US candidates with up to 75% travel. Travel and expenses are covered by the employer. Compensation is based on experience and project scope; future opportunities may be available depending on performance and client demand.
Summary: A Fiber Optic Technician/Tester with experience working with and testing MPO 8 or MPO 16 fiber optic cables.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance checks on fiber optic systems to prevent issues and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve problems with fiber optic networks, including cable breaks and signal degradation.
- Splicing: Join fiber optic cables using specialized equipment, ensuring a seamless connection.
- Testing: Use OTDRs, power meters, and other tools to assess signal quality and identify faults. Experience with EXFO or AFL Testers is desired but not required.
- Documentation: Record and document all installation and maintenance work, including test results.
- Safety: Follow strict safety protocols when working with fiber optic cables and equipment, including work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Customer Support: May involve interacting with customers, providing assistance with internet connections, and addressing concerns.
