Position Information The purpose of this classification is to order, receive, record, store and issue materials, supplies, tools and equipment for an assigned department.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This classification is distinguished from Warehouse Worker in that incumbents in this class are responsible for ordering and recording materials, supplies, tools and equipment as well as receiving, storing and issuing the same.
Essential Functions
Prepares and submits parts and supplies order request forms: reviews inventory reports to determine needed materials; confirms quantity on hand; reviews usage; researches and evaluates suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, distribution capabilities, etc.; prepares requests for quote for new items; and creates and submits purchasing documents for verified qualified vendors.
Issues parts, tools, supplies, orders, or other items: fills work orders for parts and supplies from inventory; pulls stock to fill work orders; reviews work orders to ensure accuracy and closes out completed work orders; and maintains logs/records of all materials checked out or issued.
Processes inventory at receiving; receives materials, equipment, and supplies: verifies shipping and packing lists; performs accurate count of incoming materials; runs receiving report; and enters inventory items into department database by part number, vendor, price, detailed technical specifications, and location.
Shelves and stores materials, equipment, and supplies: ensures proper shelving of inventory; updates stocking levels; maintains inventory locations; ensures proper inventory labeling; and maintains related records and documentation.

Conducts physical inventory count; performs inventory test counts, sight inventory, and low stock checks and adjustments; verifies and adjusts inventory records, as needed; and resolves inventory variance reports.
Maintains safety and cleanliness of warehouse: performs daily inspection of the warehouse and surrounding area for unauthorized entry and potential unsafe working conditions; performs general cleaning and housekeeping tasks; and alerts supervisor to problems and concerns as needed.
Picks up surplus property from departments and delivers to central storage location; verifies proper transfer paperwork is present and provides to Purchasing; delivers other items as requested.
Creates varied custom signage using laser sign machine; trains others on proper usage and safety; performs basic maintenance on machine; orders related supplies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by two years of experience in warehouse operations. Licenses and Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a valid Forklift certification or obtain within 90 days of hire. Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).

Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as heights or machinery.
