Overview Join a team where innovation and passion drive our work! Job Summary: Our Enterprise Suite Professional Services Team is in search of an experienced Mainframe Modernization Consultant. You will play a pivotal role in delivering technology solutions that facilitate our clients' Digital Transformation journey. At Rocket Software, we offer robust solutions for COBOL, mainframe application delivery, and host access, laying the groundwork for modernization across application, process, and infrastructure to enable enhanced market speed, competitive edge, and operational effectiveness. The successful candidate will bring extensive technical expertise and hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: Infrastructure modernization projects

Application modernization projects

Process modernization projects

Additionally, you will demonstrate the ability to implement workload solutions in a Hybrid Cloud environment and transition traditional applications to Cloud-Native API Microservices while adopting an enterprise-wide DevOps approach for expedited application delivery. Main Responsibilities: Execute complex project tasks with minimal guidance from the technical lead in collaboration with Customer/SI representatives.

Contribute to the design of specific deliverables and aid in deploying Rocket Software products.

Assist in implementing new solutions under a Solutions Architect's supervision.

Engage in technical forums within the Rocket Software environment and local professional user communities.

Utilize your subject matter expertise to resolve a variety of technical challenges.

Make independent decisions within established practices and procedures to determine appropriate actions.

Collaborate with the team, fostering positive relationships with colleagues and customers.

Required Qualifications and Skills: 3-5 years of relevant technical experience

Exceptional communication and customer service skills with a confident demeanor over the phone.

Proactive approach and ability to perform under pressure.

Experience with complex IT project implementations, customizations, or maintenance.

Analytical mindset to interpret test results and facilitate issue resolution.

Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks concurrently.

Fluent in written and spoken English.

Technical Skills: Your technical capabilities should encompass at least two of the following: Experience with IBM Enterprise COBOL or PLI programming

System-level knowledge of IBM CICS, IMS, and JCL

Familiarity with relational databases like IBM DB2/UDB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL

Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux/UNIX operating systems

Understanding of major Cloud Provider infrastructure and technologies, including AWS, Azure, GCP, Cloud Foundry, Docker, or Kubernetes

Desirable Project Experience: Hands-on experience with mainframe application modernization projects is greatly valued. For example: Utilization of tools and methodologies for migrating mainframe workloads, including hardware/middleware emulation and automated code conversion.

Experience modernizing COBOL applications and migrating application code across various platforms.

Familiarity with agile methodologies such as Test Automation, TDD, CI/CD, DevOps, and Test Data Management.

Experience in developing, deploying, and optimizing data modernization solutions for mainframe systems, such as IMS/DB, IDMS, ADABAS, and VSAM data migration.

Experience with implementing DevOps and Agile tools across development processes.

Experience configuring automation pipelines in platforms like GitHub, Azure DevOps, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, or similar tools.

Additional Preferred Skills: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Familiarity with Rocket Software COBOL products such as Enterprise Developer, Visual COBOL, Enterprise Server, Server Express, Net Express

Experience in other mainframe languages or environments like REXX, Assembler, or Natural

Relevant IT architecture certifications, such as AWS Solution Architect, Microsoft AZURE, Google Cloud Certification, or SAFe

Proficiency in an additional EU language is a plus.

The salary for this role is projected to be between $85,820.00 and $107,275.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
