The Vice President (VP) of Payor and Provider Contracting is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of contract negotiations and relationship management with health insurers (payors) and healthcare providers. This executive ensures competitive, financially sustainable agreements that support business objectives, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care.
You Will Focus On:
Lead the development and execution of payor and provider contracting strategies to support organizational goals for revenue, cost containment, and network adequacy. Negotiate complex reimbursement contracts with health plans, provider groups, health systems, ACOs, and third-party administrators (TPAs). Drive value-based payment strategies, including risk-based arrangements, shared savings programs, and bundled payments. Oversee the analysis of contract performance, including utilization, cost, and quality metrics to optimize terms and performance. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with payors, providers, and key stakeholders. Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Operations, Compliance, and Clinical teams to align contracting strategies with organizational priorities. Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare regulations, including CMS, Medicaid, and commercial payor rules. Provide executive leadership and strategic direction to the contracting team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management. Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for senior leadership and board-level discussions The Skills, Experience & Education You Bring
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field; Master's degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or JD) preferred. 10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare contracting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Deep understanding of healthcare delivery systems, managed care models, and value-based payment arrangements. Proven experience negotiating large-scale, high-stakes contracts with payors and providers. Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and reimbursement methodologies (e.g., DRG, capitation, FFS, etc.). Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead cross-functional initiatives
Base Salary
$215,000 - $275,000/yr
