Job Summary

Greenlight Networks is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Hardware/Wireless (Wifi) Engineer to join our growing team in Baltimore as we expand our fiber services. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in computer, electrical engineering, or a related field who is eager to launch their career in CPE engineering in the fiber broadband/ telecommunications space.

As a Hardware / Wireless Engineer, you will evaluate, test and certify advanced wireless gateways, WIFI repeaters, Access Points and Optical Network Terminals. You will develop optimal configurations, upgrade plans and develop troubleshooting methods and procedures used by the operations team. You’ll gain hands-on experience working with networking hardware and software, supporting customers, and ensuring reliable, high-quality internet services. You will work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams, with opportunities for professional development and industry certifications.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in installing and configuring CPE hardware and software.
  • Support troubleshooting and testing wireless gateways and repeaters.
  • Help monitor and maintain wireless networks, LAN connections, and equipment performance.
  • Participate in testing and validating new products and reporting on results.
  • Learn and apply network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, ping, traceroute, iperf) to diagnose issues.
  • Assist in documenting hardware / equipment configurations, troubleshooting steps, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with senior team members and vendors to support wireless operations.
  • Contribute to incident response and outage resolution as part of the technical team.
  • Support site surveys and equipment deployment planning.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

  • Foundational understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, switching, LAN/WAN).
  • Familiarity with WiFi IEEE 802.11 standards and security protocols up to and including WIFI 7.
  • Understanding Radio Frequency Transmission, reception and propagation with a focus on 2.5Ghz/5Gh/6Ghz bands.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced technology environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Coursework or internship experience with WIFI and network troubleshooting tools preferred.
  • Familiarity and understanding of telecommunications industry / fiber knowledge a plus.

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or electrical engineering or related field (required). Computer Science or Information Systems degrees with extensive WIFI experience/co-ops may be considered.
  • Relatable Co-Op / Internship and or work experience required.

Compensation

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary for this position is $68,000 - $89,000. The actual salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
