Fabricator I (Metal)
for a contract opportunity with our client in
Allen Park, Michigan .
Overview
The Fabricator I (Metal) will cut materials to size and shape and weld metal using hand tools and equipment such as band saws, material brakes, and material shears. The role will provide welding support for the garage shop services teams and will be mentored and supported by team members on project work and customer interactions.
Responsibilities
Weld instrumentation, exhaust tubes, and bosses. Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning with sanding disk and wire brushes to remove impurities such as scale, rust, grease, and moisture. Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment in vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions. Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs. Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up. Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. 1-4+ years of experience Preferred: Certificate in Welding Technology or related. Requirements
Basic knowledge and ability to Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) weld. Good communication skills and detail oriented. Knowledge to safely operate and use the Plasma cutter and Oxy-Fuel torch to cut out material. Has own tools and rolling toolbox.
