Overview
The position of HR Generalist will work closely with senior HR management in supporting the HR function in the assigned geographic regions. The HR Generalist performs human resources-related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.
This position will also support the Human Resources Department by assisting with the administration of various HR programs, performing clerical and administrative duties, maintaining employee records, and promoting positive relationships between employees and management. The role requires the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and to relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the administration of various human resource functions for the assigned geographic location(s); interpret and implement personnel policies and procedures. Partner with employees and management to communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
- Maintain working relationships with union officials and monitor day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours and working conditions.
- Support management with employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
- Provide support to HR team and field staff with investigations and employee performance management.
- Provide support to employees in HR-related topics (leaves, pay issues, vacation banks, etc.).
- May review benefits with employees and assist in organizing and communicating the annual open enrollment and election process.
- Act as liaison with the legal team on subpoenas, EEOC requests and other reporting requirements; respond to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.
- Maintain and process Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges; may attend unemployment hearings when necessary.
- May facilitate or provide training to the workforce; review and submit FMLA requests, Leave of Absence, and/or STD paperwork.
- Participate in administrative staff meetings and other meetings/seminars; recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Ensure familiarity with the company handbook; prepare and maintain HR reports (e.g., turnover, headcount, and other key metrics); assist with research projects or special projects; perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associates in Business or Bachelors in HR or Business preferred. PHR Certification is a plus.
- 2 to 4 years of HR experience required, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Aviation cargo experience a plus.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision; strong relationship-building skills.
- Customer oriented and able to work effectively under stressful conditions.
- Self-managing, independent and motivated; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; must be a team player with professional demeanor and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong business communications skills (advanced writing, listening) and basic office/mathematics skills; proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Ability to manage complex schedules and multiple commitments; familiarity with company policies and reporting requirements.
- Preferred: Labor relations experience.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation $64,500 - $72,500 Per Year

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time; occasional movement inside an office setting.
- Constant use of computer and office equipment; walk short distances; reach above/below shoulder.
- Handle documents or office equipment; sit/stand for extended periods; lift/carry/move objects up to 10 pounds.
- Speak clearly on the telephone; interact with coworkers and external parties.
