Description of Work

This position reports to the Correctional Programs Director I and will function in the Programs section at a multi-custody female correctional facility. The main duties of this position are the development and management of programs which must satisfy the goal of offender rehabilitation by providing educational, vocational, recreational, religious, group therapy, and self-help opportunities.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Supervising Correctional Case Managers and ensuring that programs meet the necessary goals by constant evaluation and observation. 2. Training, observing, evaluating, and supervising staff in their duties. 3. Completing, reviewing, and maintaining employee time, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. 4. Developing, implementing, coordinating, and supervising programs associated with offender's treatment, re-entry, and/or behavior. 5. Assisting supervisory staff with any special projects or assignments required by the operational demands of the Programs Section. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with with established working hours of

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be

$37,782 - $66,120 .

North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW) , in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders.

The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification.
