Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring NC or compact RN license, with strong telemetry and cardiac care skills.
Responsibilities Work in a Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting Patient diagnoses include congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and post-cardiac cath Ratios are typically 1:6-7 12-hour night shifts, scheduled from 18:45 to 7:15 36 hours per week, with contract lengths from 13 to 26 weeks Required to work 5-6 weekend shifts, equivalent to every other weekend Self-scheduling based on unit needs Float required within hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed Specialized care procedures include cardiac drips (Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine), sheath pulls, TR Bands, Femstop, and post-cardiac surgery care Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration Provide direct care for cardiac patients, including monitoring, administering drips, and managing post-cardiac procedures Participate as a member of the Storm Team or Hurricane Team and may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters Orientation is 24 hours Scrubs must be navy in color No RTO allowed after booking or during the first week; up to 7 days pre-approved if not on a holiday, and must work 2 of 3 major holidays Travel pairs allowed but will be assigned to different units Fatigue policy limits to 5 days in a row and 60 hours per week Modules and training to be completed pre-start and annually
Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required at start Minimum of 2 years of experience in telemetry or stepdown required ACLS certification required Experience with telemetry, PCU/IMC/DOU/stepdown care, dysrhythmia interpretation, remote monitoring, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery, sheath removal, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, and cardiac drip titration required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Epic charting experience required First-time travelers accepted Pending references are acceptable at time of submission but required at start Candidates who previously worked in PERM/PRN/EP staff roles at this health system must wait 12 months before reapplying as travelers
