Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring a NC or compact RN license, with cardiac drip and telemetry experience.

Responsibilities Work in a Cardiac Telemetry unit within a busy hospital environment Patient population includes primary cardiac, stroke, and post-procedural care Manage pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients including pacemaker, defibrillator, and cardiac catheterization cases Patient diagnoses include unstable angina, CHF, dysrhythmias, CVA, TIA, and those needing cardiac drips (Cardiazem, Dopamine, Amiodarone, etc.) Assignment ratios are typically 1:5-6, with possibility to surge to 6 patients per nurse Unit cares for COVID positive patients with use of Opti-flow and BiPAP during surges Unit turnover rate is high, averaging 78 to 90 patients per week Specialized equipment used includes telemetry monitors, pulse oximeters, high flow oxygen, non-rebreather masks, BiPAP for chronic therapy EMR is Epic (Dimensions) for documentation; Pyxis for medication management; SBAR for communications 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15, self-scheduling under leadership oversight Every other weekend required, plus two Mondays and two Fridays in a six-week period On-call may be required based on patient census Floating required within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals based on unit needs Primary responsibilities include caring for a variety of cardiac, stroke, and post-procedure patients, managing multiple high-risk drips, and coordinating admissions and discharges Work with a dedicated team lead for support with admissions and discharges Unit provides a 36-hour orientation; attendance required every day of the first week Scrub colors are navy blue, white, or a combination; jackets must match uniform color and material No block scheduling is allowed No holiday RTO is permitted and must be available to work two out of three major holidays First-time travelers accepted Candidates who worked at Novant Health or New Hanover as PERM/PRN/EP staff must wait 12 months before reapplying Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted but offered at a lower local rate No RTO allowed during the first week due to orientation requirements Fatigue policy limits consecutive workdays and total weekly hours

Requirements Active NC or compact RN license required in hand by start date Minimum 2 years recent experience in a cardiac or similar high-acuity telemetry unit Must be proficient in starting IVs, telemetry, and administering/titrating cardiac drips Experience caring for pre- and post-procedure cardiac patients is required ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required Must pass EKG testing prior to start Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred Ability to care for stable patients on BiPAP, high flow oxygen, and Opti-flow as needed
