Overview

This position is for a night crew leader. The hours are 1:30pm to 10:00pm. You must have an active Infor application before an interview can take place.

Responsibilities

  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and burnishes floors; vacuums and shampoos carpets as applicable; cleans, sanitizes, and stocks restrooms; cleans and dusts all surfaces; removes and disposes of waste daily; maintains custodial closets.
  • Performs minor non-cleaning maintenance tasks (e.g., changes light bulbs, changes toilet seats, unclogs toilets, changes ceiling tiles, touches up paint, secures windows, delivers supplies, sets up for facility activities, meetings, and/or conferences, assembles and moves furniture).
  • Follows a lawn and facility maintenance program (mowing, weed control, edging, trimming, fertilizing, minor plant replacement, mulching, blowing sidewalks/curbs, watering, pressure washing, graffiti removal as appropriate).
  • Opens or closes and secures the facility; manages gates, doors, windows, and alarm systems; turns lights on/off to ensure grounds and facilities are safe and free of hazards; responds to emergencies by securing the perimeter.
  • Performs work duties independently and/or as part of a custodial crew; works cooperatively in group situations; maintains a positive outlook and professional demeanor; provides assistance to co-workers and helps resolve conflicts.
  • Supervises assigned personnel, monitors staff performance, and makes immediate improvements; prepares required reports; performs basic computer tasks; assumes duties of head custodian in absence or as directed; maintains basic English language skills; performs any other duties as assigned.

  • Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel; provide direction, coordination, and evaluation of teams in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Regular attendance and reliability; support the district vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan; maintain professionalism and civility.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and skills necessary for the position.

  • Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in large-scale housekeeping and yard maintenance, with one year of related supervisory/management experience required.
  • Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Completion of Custodial Operations Career Advancement training encouraged.
  • Language Skills: Reads and interprets safety rules and manuals; writes routine reports; speaks effectively to groups.
  • Mathematical Skills: Includes basic arithmetic, measurements, rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense to carry out simple instructions in standard situations.
  • Computer Skills: Use internal HCPS email and district webpage as appropriate.
  • Physical Demands: Includes standing, walking, lifting up to 55 pounds, various exertions; exposure to cleaning chemicals and environmental conditions.
