Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring Level I trauma and strong cardiac care skills.

Responsibilities Position is in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CTICU/CVICU) of an acute, Level I trauma hospital 24-bed unit specializing in cardiac surgery recovery, including cardiac, thoracic, and transplant cases Typical patient diagnoses include cardiac surgery recovery, Impellas, IABP, CRRT, lung transplant, ECMO, esophagectomy, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, and TAVR Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:1 or 1:2, with a high number of 1:1 assignments 12-hour day shifts from 7am to 7pm, with a requirement to work three weekend shifts in a four-week period Holiday work required as part of the rotation, typically covering two out of four major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s) Floating to other ICUs and all Telemetry units as needed, with a patient ratio of up to 4:1 on Tele; may be required to float to Westgate campus EMR used is Cerner, and telemetry is monitored with Phillips equipment No IV Team; nurses must have strong IV skills In-house intensivist staff during days, on-call at nights Expected to perform frequent bedside procedures including bronchoscopy, Swans, and epidural management High-acuity environment with complex cardiovascular cases, including patients on advanced life support devices Must adhere to strict sterile technique policies; failure to maintain sterile field may result in termination Two days of on-unit orientation provided prior to full assignment responsibilities Intensivist coverage and support staff available, including 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy Travelers will float first before permanent staff when unit census requires Must have natural hair color and wear no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing First-day SIM lab is pass/fail and mandatory for all travelers Candidates must have reliable transportation; travel teams must provide their own vehicle

Requirements Active RN license in the state or compact (NLC) state; pending licenses will not be accepted Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience, with CVICU and Level I trauma experience required Active BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred Must pass a pre-employment dysrhythmia exam (Relias) prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed Must successfully complete a pass/fail SIM lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day one of orientation Navy scrubs required Strong IV skills required due to lack of IV team Driver’s license required as proof of residence; candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility Returning candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year
