Maintenance Technician (Tech I / Tech II) - Nights

Compensation (based on experience) Maintenance Tech I:
$26.65-$29.73/hr Maintenance Tech II:
$30.75-$35.88/hr Pay-for-Performance program: first review at 6 months, then at 1 year and annually thereafter About the Role As a Maintenance Technician, you'll install, inspect, adjust, and repair production and support equipment in a hot-metal manufacturing environment. You'll perform multi-craft maintenance (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, basic electrical) to keep lines safe, reliable, and in spec-working both independently and as part of a tight-knit team.
What You'll Do
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on production equipment to minimize downtime and extend asset life. Diagnose and repair pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical power transmission, and natural gas systems; execute alignments, bearing/valve/seal replacements, and related mechanical work. Conduct basic electrical tasks under LOTO; interface with PLC/HMI signals for diagnostics and escalation to Controls as needed. Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on overhead cranes; complete required crane inspections and documentation. Safely rig and move heavy components; operate forklifts/mobile equipment when qualified. Complete PM checks, document findings in the CMMS, and report deviations/non-conformances to enable timely corrective action. Maintain spare-parts inventory and coordinate with vendors/partners for repairs, parts, and technical support. Communicate clearly with operators and leadership regarding planned downtime, status, ETAs, and completed work. Champion safety: follow PPE, LOTO, confined space, and all applicable OSHA/OHSA rules; promptly report hazards, incidents, and near-misses; recommend process/safety improvements. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Hands-on experience maintaining/troubleshooting
pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical power transmission, and natural gas systems . Basic electricity knowledge; experience with
welding and metal fabrication . Able to use Windows/Web-based programs; complete work orders and PM documentation accurately. Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, heavy-industrial setting with strict safety procedures. Preferred Qualifications
2+ years
of maintenance experience in fast-paced manufacturing or foundry environments; aluminum/hot-metal experience a plus. Certifications/designations in
Mechanics / Millwright / Machine Repair
(or apprenticeship) considered. Solid understanding of
preventive maintenance , blueprint/schematic reading, and CMMS usage. Familiarity with
PLCs/HMIs
for diagnostic purposes; OSHA/OHSA knowledge. Experience with
crane maintenance/inspections , safe rigging, and overhead crane operation. Physical & Sensory Requirements
High frequency visual/audio monitoring of production processes, quality, HMIs, and PLC-driven panels. Frequent data entry of maintenance information; regular monitoring of scrap conditions. Low-frequency hot-metal work and confined-space entry. Low-frequency lifting up to 50 lbs; bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and working in tight areas. Low-frequency climbing over 4 feet; low-frequency operation of overhead cranes and forklifts/mobile equipment (when qualified). Working Conditions
Nightshift (6a-6p) on a 2/2/3 schedule Mostly indoor industrial setting with constant proximity to outside elements; some outdoor work. Long-term exposure to high/low temperatures and loud noise; some exposure to fumes; occasional confined-space work. Company-provided PPE must be worn as required.
