POSITION SUMMARY: Join the cooking team & assist staff with cooking healthy and nutritious meals for elementary, middle and high school-aged students participating in afterschool programming at the Lussier Community Education Center. Volunteers prepare meals for students on Mondays and Fridays during the academic year. HOURS: 3-6 hours/week (time dependent on number of shifts per week) Mondays and/or Fridays 3:30 PM - 6:30 PM DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Following a pre-made meal plan, prepare and serve the dinner meal to 50-80 students. Some foods will have been prepared during the morning volunteer shift. (i.e. potatoes used in mashed potatoes will be washed and peeled; frozen meats will be thawed.) Following the meal, store leftovers, and clean kitchen. Students will bring leftover food and dishes to the kitchen window and will clean off tables before storing. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience preparing meals for large numbers of people. Ability to work collaboratively with people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds, and with minimal supervision from LCEC staff. Mature attitude, creativity & resourcefulness. Understanding and appreciation of socio-economically, ethnically and culturally diverse populations. REPORTS TO:
