Job Description

Quest is holding a Phlebotomist Hiring Event in Wyomissing, PA for the Greater Reading, PA area on Thursday, November 6th from 3:30PM-6:30PM. Both full and part time positions are available. The event will be held at our Patient Services Center at 2001 State Hill Road, Suite 105 in Wyomissing, PA. This is an invitation only event so you must create an application.

Pay Range: $17.20+ per hour

Represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, both as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR I draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares those specimens for lab testing while following established practices and procedures. The PSR I has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures to patients and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe and accurate manner. The PSR I will demonstrate Quest Leadership Behaviors while focusing on process excellence skills and sensitivity to confidentiality and accuracy to patient information. Successful applicants may be assigned to work in a doctor's office, a patient service center, in a house call environment, or as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
  • Administer oral solutions according to training.
  • Research test/client information and confirm and verify all orders using lab technology systems.
  • Complete data entry, including patient registration, test orders, and Standing Orders.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Process specimens (labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing) as required by test order.
  • Perform clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking, and answering phones when needed.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies and ensure staff follow instructions.
  • Verify patient demographic info and labels post-venipuncture for accuracy and identity.
  • Assist with compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data; maintain phlebotomy logs and temperature logs.
  • Complete training and stay up-to-date with phlebotomy techniques; travel to Territory Manager meetings if needed; participate in special projects.
  • Stay up-to-date on company communications.

Qualifications

Required Work Experience:

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Flexible and available based on staffing needs (weekends, holidays, on-call, overtime).
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record if applicable.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Lift 1 to 15 pounds frequently; 16 to 25 occasionally; 26 to 40 infrequently; >41 pounds not to be lifted without assistance.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods; long hours of eye and hand coordination.
  • Must perform repetitive tasks; may require travel; extensive use of phone and PC.
  • Fine dexterity, talking, walking, balancing, bending/kneeling, pushing/pulling, reaching/twisting.

Knowledge:

  • Committed to Quest Diagnostics policies and procedures, dress code, and safety guidelines.
  • The position requires the ability to effectively communicate in English.

Skills:

  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric.
  • Superior customer focus; effective communication with peers, supervisors, and patients; adaptability and business knowledge.
