Overview

We are looking for hardworking staff to work within our Waste Team as Bank staff. To collect waste from various holding locations at BTHFT sites and transfer to external waste storage areas in a timely and compliant manner. To provide and maintain a professional, efficient, effective and timely service to all departments that will contribute to achieving safe, high quality patient care. To work as part of an internal team, working to a schedule. Communicating with colleagues, ward staff, Waste Supervisor and Waste Compliance Manager to ensure waste is moved effectively.
Main duties of the job
To move all waste streams generated within Trust sites, including clinical waste, offensive waste, general waste, furniture, and electrical items. Clearance of waste from internal waste rooms and dedicated ward or waste areas to external waste compounds or agreed storage areas dependent on waste type.

Qualifications and experience
- Experience of completing documentation and paperwork accurately
- Experience of working within a waste service
- Working in a Hospital/Healthcare Environment
Skills
- Ability to follow instructions (verbal and written)
- Ability to work within agreed procedures and deadlines and to use initiative appropriately to deal with unexpected situations
Knowledge
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
- Healthcare setting knowledge of waste services and how this impacts on patient care and services delivered within the hospital
