Responsibilities
- The Cardiovascular Sonographer performs all high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams per registry and in accordance with department protocols.
- Assist physicians with interventional procedures such as but not limited to transesophageal and stress echocardiograms.
- The Cardiovascular Sonographer is knowledgeable in and carries out all applicable processes of the department.
- Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures.
- Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all.

- Performs routine and complex studies, in addition to assisting with a variety of imaging procedures.
- Must be able to perform/function with little or no supervision.
- Consistently obtains the highest quality scans possible in relation to patient body habits and/or NPO prep status as observed by Cardiologists, Ultrasound Educator, and Manager.
- Follows proper exam protocols as outlined in department Policy and Procedure manual.
- Uses two patient identifiers to confirm patient/exam accuracy before administering exam.
- Performs, properly documents, and reports all procedures in accordance with departmental policy.
- Adapts procedures to each patient’s medical situation and obtains all available necessary information for proper interpretation.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Maintains professional relationships with all customers; communicates with patients and family members appropriate to age and understanding.
Qualifications
- Associates of Science Cardiovascular Sonography
- OR Accredited Graduate of Sonographer Program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must hold a minimum of one of the following registrations: American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS/RVT) OR Cardiovascular Credentialing International - Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS/RVS)
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science Diagnostic Medical Sonography
