Position Overview
The MEP Quality Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and performance across multiple construction projects. This role requires expertise in MEP installation, testing, and commissioning. Preferred background experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) is desired. The MEP Quality Manager works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and leadership to implement quality programs, conduct inspections, and drive continuous improvement in MEP construction quality.
Key Responsibilities Develop & Implement Quality Plans:
Establish MEP-specific quality assurance and control procedures to align with project requirements, company standards, and industry best practices. Site Inspections & Audits:
Conduct regular job site inspections to verify compliance with specifications, codes, and approved submittals. MEP System Testing & Commissioning:
Oversee the quality and performance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and BAS systems, ensuring they meet contract documents and design intent. Pre-Installation & Coordination Meetings:
Facilitate pre-installation meetings with project teams and subcontractors to ensure clarity on installation procedures and quality expectations. BAS Integration & Performance Verification:
Ensure
Building Automation Systems
(BAS) function effectively, optimizing energy performance and system controls in compliance with project specifications. Issue Resolution & Corrective Actions:
Identify and address quality concerns proactively, working with project teams and subcontractors to implement corrective actions. Training & Mentorship:
Provide guidance and training on MEP quality control practices, ensuring teams understand quality requirements and proper installation methods. Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate quality records, including inspection reports, non-conformance logs, testing data, and lessons learned. Subcontractor & Vendor Oversight:
Ensure MEP subcontractors adhere to quality standards and coordinate with vendors for material compliance. Regulatory & Code Compliance:
Stay up to date with industry codes (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IPC, etc.), ensuring all installations comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum 3+ years
of experience in MEP quality control, commissioning, or construction management. Experience with
Building Automation Systems (BAS) , HVAC controls, and electrical/power monitoring systems preferred. Bachelor's degree in
mechanical, electrical, or construction engineering
or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered. Technical Skills & Knowledge
Strong understanding
of MEP drawings, specifications, and quality requirements. Proficiency with
testing & commissioning
procedures for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Experience using
quality management software
(Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam Revu, Procore). Familiarity with
codes and standards
such as NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, IPC, and LEED requirements. Ability to
analyze BAS performance data
and collaborate with controls contractors. Additional Requirements
Ability to travel
to job sites as needed. Industry certifications such as
CQM, CxA, or LEED AP
are a plus.
