Overview: A leading heavy civil construction organization is seeking an experienced
Regional Safety & Health Manager
to oversee the development, implementation, and management of the company's Safety and Health Management System for a designated region. This role ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies while fostering a culture of safety across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a regional safety team, providing mentorship, training, and performance oversight Develop and execute strategic safety programs that meet or exceed company standards Oversee compliance with all relevant occupational safety regulations, including OSHA, Cal-OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable agencies Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and audits, emphasizing hazard recognition, behavioral safety, and corrective actions Coordinate and lead safety meetings, training programs, and accident prevention initiatives Manage regulatory inspections and investigations, ensuring prompt corrective actions Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses for major project phases Investigate and maintain records for all incidents, claims, and near misses, working closely with insurance and risk management teams Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and executives to promote safety best practices and ensure safe project execution Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Safety, Occupational Health, or related field (required) Minimum 7 years of experience in a construction-related safety environment Professional safety certifications preferred (CHST, CSP, or CMSP) Extensive knowledge of Fall Protection, MUTCD standards, Construction Safety Orders, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Experience with OHSAS 18001 and familiarity with EM 385-1-1 Strong leadership, presentation, and communication skills Ability to work in high production environments, including nights and weekends as needed Physical ability to perform site visits, including working at heights and in confined spaces, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Preferred Skills:
Bilingual (English/Spanish) Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Ability to influence safety culture through training, coaching, and enforcement Benefits:
