Senior Chiller Technician - Houston Tx or Dallas Tx

About The Position:
The Chiller Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and system support for TEAL's air-cooled chiller-based systems. This includes chillers, pumps, VFDs, controls, and piping systems. The technician plays a key role in supporting system uptime and will work closely with the NOC and Controls teams to troubleshoot and maintain plant communication and performance.
What You'll Do: • Perform routine maintenance and corrective service on air-cooled chiller systems and associated mechanical equipment • Diagnose system issues and inspect key components: chillers, circulating pumps, expansion tanks, air separators, and VFDs • Execute service repairs, replace failed parts, and ensure efficient system performance • Conduct refrigerant inspections and pressure checks to verify proper operation; adjust as needed • Service and maintain internal electrical and electronic components related to chiller plant operations • Respond to emergency service calls and after-hours operational issues as part of an on-call rotation • Perform pipe service including soldering, brazing, and grooved pipe work, following trade standards • Collaborate with NOC and controls techs to maintain plant uptime, control communication, and remote monitoring accuracy • Document repairs, service calls, and inspections; complete all work order and reporting documentation accurately and promptly • Support project teams with system installations and commissioning when required • Maintain a clean and safe work area; comply with OSHA and company safety protocols • Travel to work sites nationwide (mostly within Texas) • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS : • High school diploma or GED required; formal HVAC trade school training (min. 3 years) preferred • Minimum 3-5 years of experience servicing commercial HVAC systems, with a strong focus on chiller technology • Thorough understanding of thermodynamics and refrigeration cycles • EPA 608 Universal Certification required • Carrier factory training or OEM certifications a plus • Familiarity with BAS systems, remote monitoring platforms, and cloud-based controls preferred • OSHA 1910 Arc Flash Certification a plus • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to lift 75 lbs. unassisted, climb ladders, and work in extreme weather conditions • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and/or work order/ticketing software systems • Valid driver's license with clean driving record • Willingness to work flexible hours, travel and participate in on-call rotation • Maintain clean driving record.
Compensation $30-$50 and hour DOE
