Role Summary
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Cloud Database Administrator to lead hybrid data initiatives across on-prem and Azure environments. This role is critical to the success of our client's cloud migration strategy and data lifecycle management.
You'll be responsible for designing, deploying, and optimizing secure, scalable databases while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data flow and performance. Your expertise will directly support business intelligence, analytics, and enterprise data governance.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and maintain on-prem SQL Server environments, including backups, replication, and high availability. Design, deploy, and manage Azure SQL databases, Cosmos DB, and other Azure data services. Architect scalable, secure cloud databases optimized for performance and reliability. Build and maintain data warehouses to support analytics and reporting. Develop ETL pipelines using Terraform, Fabric Data Pipelines, SSIS, and other modern tools. Participate in agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues across cloud and on-prem systems. Ensure database security, compliance, and access control. Support hybrid cloud migration strategies and infrastructure planning. Implement CI/CD practices and version control using Git. Build proactive monitoring solutions with tools like Datadog. Key Requirements 10+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration (on-prem). 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services. Expertise in schema design, data modeling, and cloud database optimization. Strong understanding of ETL processes and data integration tools. Solid experience with data warehousing concepts and implementation. Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, Terraform, and scripting for automation. Familiarity with cloud security, governance, and compliance frameworks. Experience with performance tuning and query optimization. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with APIs and basic API development for data aggregation. Microsoft certifications (Azure DBA Associate or Solutions Architect) preferred. DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) preferred.
