Overview
Marketing Lead, Sports at Whatnot. Role focuses on sports cards and memorabilia within Whatnot’s largest category by GMV. You will own marketing excellence, shape category narratives, and drive growth through buyer acquisition and retention with enthusiasts in the sports card space.
Base pay range
$170,000.00/yr - $230,000.00/yr
Role and responsibilities
- Define the strategy for sports marketing and develop big-bet initiatives designed to break through at an industry level, in service of company goals
- Own end-to-end planning and execution of major marketing initiatives, including brand presence at events such as The National and Whatnot Card Show
- Develop and manage relationships with industry leaders, from influencers, sellers, manufacturers, and other key partners
- Manage a high-performing team responsible for buyer acquisition, including devising product release moments, campaigns, and events that generate community buzz and grow demand
- Monitor, understand, and report on demand-side performance and measure the efficacy of work against business metrics
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in category marketing or sports marketing with proficiency in managing demand-side business and tracking growth KPIs
- Expertise in developing industry-defining campaigns that deliver brand impact and business results
- Experience owning IRL and event experiences as part of marketing responsibilities with proven business impact
- Experience and interest in working with influencers, creators, and industry partners within the sports card space
- Strong understanding of internet culture and how to market to communities
- Problem solver with program management, people management, and leadership of high-performing teams
- Proficiency with data storytelling and tools to pull and analyze data
- Experience at a high-growth startup, marketplace, or creator-focused platform
- Scrappy and flexible to work in a fast-paced startup environment with the ability to pivot quickly
