The Quality Assurance Manager at Calbee America's
Boardman, OR facility
is responsible for leading plant-wide quality assurance and sanitation operations to ensure the production of safe, high-quality snacks that meet all regulatory, customer, and company standards. This role serves as the site's
SQF Practitioner and Food Safety Decision Maker , overseeing food safety systems, managing QA and Sanitation teams, and driving continuous improvement across all plant operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with FDA-regulated food manufacturing experience, a deep knowledge of SQF, HACCP, and regulatory compliance, and a strong ability to build and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance & Food Safety Lead and develop QA and Sanitation team members to achieve safety, quality, service, and cost targets. Oversee daily quality operations, including inspections, product testing, and compliance with HACCP, SQF, GMP, SOPs, and regulatory standards. Serve as the site's
SQF Practitioner
and
Food Safety Decision Maker . Manage food safety and quality systems, audits, corrective actions, and documentation. Analyze product quality data (net weights, moisture, microbiology, etc.) and implement improvements as needed. Partner across production, warehouse, sanitation, and maintenance to embed quality throughout operations. Sanitation & Compliance
Oversee sanitation operations and pest control programs to ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and company standards. Supervise and schedule sanitation team members to ensure effective cleaning and sanitation of the facility and equipment. Deliver sanitation training and monitor practices to ensure food safety protocols are followed. People Leadership & Collaboration
Train and develop QA and Sanitation teams on SQF, HACCP, and food safety requirements. Communicate goals, metrics, and initiatives through regular team meetings. Partner with HR on staffing, performance management, and development planning. Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, and R&D teams to support operational goals. Documentation & Continuous Improvement
Ensure accurate, timely documentation to support audits, compliance, and improvement initiatives. Maintain records of inspections, certifications, and quality metrics; lead system reviews and updates. Drive readiness for internal and third-party audits to ensure plant compliance and best-in-class food safety practices. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, or related field. 5+ years of experience in food manufacturing with a focus on quality and sanitation. 3+ years of management/leadership experience. Strong working knowledge of SQF, HACCP, GMPs, and regulatory compliance. Proven leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence change and drive results. Certifications:
HACCP & PCQI required; SQF Practitioner preferred. .
