Inspector/Packer - 3rd Shift

Overview

Under the direction of the Team Performance Leader, the Inspector/Packer is responsible for inspecting and packing bags to maintain safety, quality, and productivity standards. The primary function is inspecting and packing bags to ensure product quality and alignment with specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Correctly build up production orders and doctor blade assemblies
  • Change and match inks for production
  • Load and unload material from the presses using defined equipment
  • Install/remove press cylinders, sleeves and anilox rolls as required for each production order
  • Set up and print all formulations for bags product line
  • Perform all required quality checks to ensure a product can be processed at the next stage of the manufacturing process
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures
  • Assist maintenance and process technician in troubleshooting
  • Follow the production schedule as issued by shift Team Performance Leader (TPL)
  • Provide adequate turnover to the shift oncoming shift
  • Coordinate special projects as assigned
  • Break out operators for lunches/breaks and fill in where/when required
  • Safely lift up to 40 pounds of solvent and ink buckets
  • Follow all applicable EHS, Quality and Food Safety procedures and protocols, and report any incident to supervisor
  • Complete all EHS, Quality and Food Safety applicable training
  • Support implementation of the Quality and Food Safety program and comply with expectations if this role is part of the Food Safety or Internal Audit team

Other Requirements

  • Requires basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Ability to pass a hue and color vision assessment
  • Able to work without close supervision and instruct others as necessary
  • Able to follow instructions and make decisions based on data obtained
  • Computer knowledge and 1-2 years of Windows applications experience preferred

Schedule & Pay

Schedule: 3rd shift, 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Pay rate: $18.50/hr

Responsibilities (continued)

Responsible for scrap, efficiency, and product quality on the product line. Responsible for inspecting and packing quality bags into box/tote per bag specifications. Ensure counts are accurate as per bag specification. Ensure quality standards are upheld and any suspect/defective product is reported. Work as a team with others assigned to the machine, including helping operators as needed. Practice 5S, good housekeeping, and machine sanitation per company standards. Learn to pack all bag specifications at all machines in the production facility. Complete all documentation completely and accurately. Assist in training other Inspector/Packer personnel. Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience: No previous experience required, on the job training provided

Specific Skills: Attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Equipment & Machinery: Pallet jack

Computer Experience & Software: Basic computer skills

Environment: Manufacturing Plant. Climate Controlled.
