Allay Home and Hospice
Hospice Compassionate Companions - Brookfield, WI
Allay Home and Hospice, Brookfield, Wisconsin, United States, 53045
Allay's Compassionate Companions bring comfort to our patients and relief for their caregivers by offering a supportive presence, a listening ear and a helping hand.
When visiting, volunteers may offer to play music or a game, read to the patient, listen to his/her stories and memories, sit with a patient outside or take him/her for a walk, or offer assistance with non-medical tasks. There are also times when volunteers may simply sit quietly while holding one's hand, letting the patient know that he or she is not alone. It's just having that connection to another person, no matter how simple, that can make a big difference on one's quality of life.
The amount of time you give is flexible and scheduled around your availability. We do take into account your location to assign patient visits that are within or near your own community.
Hospice Companions receive training regarding the philosophy of hospice, the role of the volunteer and other staff members, as well as, helpful skills for meaningful visits with hospice patients and their families.
