Save Job

Allay's Hospice Companions bring comfort to patients and relief to their caregivers by offering a supportive presence, a listening ear and a helping hand. When visiting, volunteers may offer to play music or a game, read to the patient, listen to his/her stories and memories, sit with a patient outside or take him/her for a walk, or offer assistance with other non-medical tasks. There are also times when volunteers may simply sit quietly while holding one's hand, letting the patient know that he or she is not alone. Allay's Compassionate Companions profoundly affect the quality of our patients' lives by simply sharing their time. The amount of time you give is flexible and scheduled around your availability. We take into account your location to assign patient visits that are within or near your community. Hospice Companions receive training regarding the philosophy of hospice, the role of the volunteer and other staff members, as well as, helpful skills for meaningful visits with patients and their families.
