Job Description
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid, under general direction, is accountable for performing daily activities of a professional financial aid administrator and provides lead technical support for the financial aid management system. Oversees aspects of Federal Student Loan Programs administrated through the University’s financial aid offices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Managing and coordinating state financial aid programs, including TEXAS Grant, Texas College Work-Study, and exemptions/waivers.
Managing all scholarship programs (institutional, external, departmental, and athletic).
Managing the ScholarshipUniverse scholarship awarding platform.
Supervising and training scholarship staff
Supervising the Financial Aid Advisor who manages student loan, Federal Work-Study, and other special programs.
Monitoring, awarding, and reconciling external scholarships.
Collaborating with the Post-Award Office to create new accounts and awards within the Banner Student Information System (SIS).
Processing of competitive scholarship tuition waivers.
Reviewing and correcting financial aid over-awards.
Assisting with outreach activities such as Javelina Roundups and Counselor Updates.
Assisting with on- and off-campus presentations and/or workshops for students.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience - Six years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of -Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements:Travel required.
