Overview

Night Auditor role at Cambria Detroit. The Night Auditor is responsible for balancing revenue and expense transactions from the day, overseeing front desk operations and appearance, and attending to guests during check-in and check-out.

Responsibilities

  • Providing information to guests about hotel policies, services, and amenities.
  • Responding to requests from guests for assistance and information about the local area (e.g., directions, places to eat).
  • Selling and upselling rooms to walk-in customers.
  • Partnering with the sales department to ensure knowledge of key accounts and groups, along with tracking of company information.
  • Entering/changing reservation information in the computer system.
  • Posting charges to guest accounts.
  • Processing payments from guests.
  • Closing, balancing, and making necessary corrections to guest accounts.
  • Counting and balancing cash, credit cards, and direct bill accounts.
  • Analyzing out-of-balance situations and making adjustments as needed.
  • Completing various computer audit reports.
  • Listening for or anticipating and responding to guest complaints.
  • Operating hotel switchboard or PBX and greeting guests when answering the phone or in person.
  • Cleaning the front desk and lobby area.
  • Maintaining daily logs and balancing shift work and cash drawers.
  • Reporting any potential safety or security hazards to management immediately.
  • At times, may be responsible for cleaning guest rooms.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including dealing with difficult patrons.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the local area with the ability to provide directions and maps to local attractions and destinations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking, with frequent pulling, pushing, and bending.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds at a time.
  • Requires standing for extended periods and reaching approximately forty-eight inches in height.
