AvMed, a division of Sentara Health Plans in the Florida market, is hiring an Underwriter - Remote.
Status: Full-Time, permanent position (40 hours)
Standard working hours: 8:30am to 5:30pm EST, M-F

Job Description Summary
The Underwriter is responsible for evaluating, assessing, and managing the risk associated with insuring individuals or businesses. This role involves reviewing applications for insurance coverage, determining the terms and conditions of policies, and making decisions about whether to approve or decline coverage based on risk assessments and company guidelines. The Underwriter utilizes statistical data, financial statements, and other relevant information to make informed decisions, ensuring that policies are both competitive and profitable for the organization.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Level Degree REQUIRED
Certification / Licenses: None required
Experience: 2 years of health underwriting experience REQUIRED. Must have experience in large group underwriting (51+ employees). Preferred experience in prospect rating, renewal rating, and self-funding.
Compensation
We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay rate for full-time employment is: $60,756.80 - $101,245.40. Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials, standby / on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
