Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Basic Med/Tele skillset, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Telemetry. The facility has 241 licensed beds and is a Level 3 trauma center. It is a teaching hospital and holds certifications for chest pain and stroke. The unit has 32 beds with an average daily census of 32 patients. The patient population includes those with strokes, respiratory illnesses (flu, pneumonia, COVID), renal failure, peritoneal dialysis needs, and wound care. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, and if applicable, the LPN ratio is also 1:5 with a CNA ratio of 1:10. Support within the department includes CNAs for ADLs, mobility, and feeding. Phlebotomy service is available, along with an IV/VAT team and 24/7 hospitalist and intensivist services. Telemetry monitoring tech is present. The electronic medical record system utilized is Epic. There is on-unit technology such as IV pumps and monitoring equipment. The unit promotes a culture of teamwork, patient-centered care, and a positive work environment. Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays and will have a rotating weekend schedule. Scrub color designated for this unit is navy.
