Position Title: Bus Monitor
Location: Lafayette County School District
Description of Position:
Assist school bus driver while bus in operation; assist student loading; unloading and seating as needed.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES Assists students in getting on the bus and properly seated and secured as required. Assist the school bus driver in maintaining discipline while the bus is in operation, so the driver will not be distracted from safe driving. Assumes responsibility for the safety of school children in loading, unloading, and transporting them to and from school. Instructs children in safety precautions and practices. Performs related work as directed by supervisor(s) promptly, efficiently, and effectively. Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures Learns the bus route and assists a substitute driver on the route Checks the bus to assure there are no students remaining on the bus at the end of each route Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to perform work requiring good physical condition. Ability to relate to students, parents and school system personnel. Ability to complete various forms and records, incident and accident reports, etcetera Ability to lift and/or move, up to 50 pounds. Knowledge of bus operation. At least eighteen (18) years of age. Knowledge of first aid Must be able to pass a random drug screening. Must pass a background check
