Located in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood, UPMC Presbyterian is a Level 1 Trauma Center and a leader in organ transplantation, cardiology, trauma, stroke, and cutting-edge research. The Medical ICU (MICU) is a 32-bed critical care unit that specializes in treating patients with acute respiratory failure, sepsis, pre/post-lung transplants, renal failure, and toxicology cases. Nurses in the MICU gain hands-on experience with ventilators, trachs, vasopressors, neuromuscular blockades, and CRRT machines.

Minimum 1 year of RN experience preferred

BSN preferred

Previous Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience preferred

Completion of UPMC student nurse internship or clinical transitions course preferred

Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate patient care

Understanding of growth and development principles to assess and meet patient needs

Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

Good clinical judgment and ability to apply the nursing process effectively

Ability to work in a complex environment and handle multiple/changing priorities

Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with staff, providers, patients, and families

Physical ability for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning patients

Licensure, Certifications & Clearances:

Current Pennsylvania RN License (or must obtain within four months of hire)

CPR certification (AHA standards, didactic & skills demonstration required within 30 days of hire)

ACLS certification (within 1 year of employment)

Act 34 Criminal Clearance required

Additional Notes:
