Shifts are typically 8 hours and are primarily day and evening based with some nights required as needed. Rotating weekends and holidays are required. Responsibilities:
Support patient care by assisting with daily living activities, procedures, and therapies under RN supervision.
Accurately document care provided and report changes in patient status to the RN.
Respond to patient needs by answering call lights, delivering meals, and transporting patients within the facility.
Assist in educating patients and families and apply or monitor restraints per policy.
Communicate effectively with the care team and maintain a respectful, team-oriented approach.
Follow all hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection control standards.
Support quality initiatives and department operations by identifying improvement opportunities and actively participating in team efforts.
High school diploma or GED required.
One of the following is also required:
1 year of general healthcare experience,
6+ months as a UPMC NA/CNA with PCT competency,
Enrollment in a healthcare training program (PT/OT/PA) with one clinical rotation completed, or
Bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
Successful completion of UPMC Patient Care Technician class and eRecord training upon hire.
CPR or BLS certification (AHA-compliant) required within 30 days of hire; ACLS preferred.
