Position Description
The Online Student Success Coordinator builds relationships with online students, monitors academic progress, and provides just-in-time and persistent outreach to connect students to resources and strategies that support success. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Online Student Success, this role helps monitor key performance indicators in student services, continuing student events, retention, and alumni job placement, and participates in a continuous improvement cycle to serve a diverse student population from admission through alumni status.
Responsibilities
- Provide responsive, student-centered communication with an assigned student caseload via chat, email, phone, and video conferencing (8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. PST, four days a week, plus one flex evening).
- Monitor new student online orientation to ensure engagement and respond to onboarding questions.
- Conduct academic success meetings (video or phone) to build an individualized plan of study for new students.
- Monitor continuing students’ adherence to academic plans and follow up when deviations occur.
- Assist new students with onboarding from admission through matriculation and provide quarterly outreach to unregistered students.
- Perform weekly checks on LMS activity, intervene with disengaged students, and escalate complex cases to the Assistant Director.
- Connect students to campus services and academic support when needed.
- Guide students through policy/paperwork steps and monitor completion with university stakeholders (e.g., hardship withdrawal, leaves of absence, financial hardship, graduate applications).
- Collaborate with the Assistant Director and program director to plan online student-related events and activities (e.g., alumni meet-and-greets, program lectures).
- Set up and run online community-building events and monitor event KPIs.
- Coordinate with program directors and Career Services to connect students with career resources and field-relevant research.
- Follow communication and data governance protocols when engaging with students, faculty, and university staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in higher education advising or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Commitment to outstanding customer service and lifelong education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across campus.
- Demonstrated skill in supporting diverse student populations and a commitment to intercultural communication.
- Flexibility with changing technologies, processes, and procedures.
- Excellent active listening, conflict management, problem resolution, and oral and written communication skills.
- Strong time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Comfort with multiple tech applications (chat, texting, LMS, CRMs, SIS, event management systems).
- Proficiency with MS Office 365, including Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in student development, higher education administration, counseling, or related field.
- Experience advising online students.
- Experience with Slate (CRM), Power BI, Canvas (LMS), and Colleague (SIS).

Compensation and Benefits
Annual Salary Range: $42,900.00 – $56,840.00. Hybrid Eligibility
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory period (3–6 months). Initial on-campus work may occur with a transition to hybrid during onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may change at the university’s discretion.
