Summary:

Individuals in the job are responsible for assisting Tropical Financial Credit Union in the achievement of its purpose of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace. The Human Resources Director's primary responsibility is to ensure all HR practices comply with applicable laws and internal policies while supporting the organization's mission, vision, and values. The role oversees all aspects of the HR function at the credit union, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, legal and regulatory compliance, and HR strategy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies and initiatives that are aligned with overall business objectives. Design systems, policies, and audit frameworks to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local laws and regulatory requirements, internal policies, onboarding documentation, I-9s, Pension Plan 5500s, coaching, annual reviews, and best practices. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes to ensure the credit union is adhering to legal requirements as well as providing a smooth and welcoming employee experience. Manage employee relations issues, prepare documentation and recommend appropriate actions that align with legal standards and maintain a positive and compliant work environment. Administer compensation, benefits, and performance management systems that ensure compliance with applicable wage and hour laws. Support succession planning efforts by collaborating with management in identifying high-potential team members, providing developmental feedback, and facilitating growth opportunities to prepare future leaders. Write, revise, and enforce workforce policies. Monitor federal, state, and local legislation and regulatory changes; assess potential impacts to workforce compliance processes, eligibility standards, and documentation requirements. Maintain, review, and update the Employee Handbook and HR policies to reflect changes in labor laws and organizational practices, and ensure timely communication and training on policy changes. Manage the training and development programs to enhance employee skills, support career growth and to ensure regulatory training requirements are met and appropriately documented. Monitor HR metrics and report on workforce trends and compliance-oriented recommendations to senior leadership. Supervise and support HR staff, ensuring their practices adhere to internal compliance standards and applicable regulations. Serve as a trusted resource to management and staff on HR compliance issues, offering guidance on regulatory requirements, internal policy interpretation, and ethical practices. BSA Compliance

All employees are required to uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and anti-money laundering (AML) policies and procedures. Specific functions will include awareness of unusual or suspicious activity relevant to the department. Complete BSA and OFAC training courses annually as provided by the Training and/or Compliance Departments. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act. Comply with all credit union policies and procedures to ensure compliance with these regulations. Perform other duties as required, with or without accommodation.

Requirements

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with a strong focus on legal compliance and risk mitigation. Bachelor's degree in a related field. SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred. 5+ years of progressively responsible HR experience, with at least 2 years managing employees. Thorough knowledge of employment laws, regulations and HR best practices. Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Physical Demands:
