Job Description

Summary:

Rose Paving is currently seeking an experienced CDL Truck Driver for our Tampa, FL location.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintain truck log according to state and federal regulations when traveling out of state.
• Maintain all paperwork.
• Maintain constant contact with Foreman to receive pickup and/or delivery instructions, and inform of any safety issues.
• Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water to ensure road worthiness.
• Possess knowledge and conduct maintenance of single and multi-rear axle trucks meeting North Carolina CDL requirements, including general knowledge of laws and regulations.
• Perform pre-trip inspections (correctly complete driver's log book) on vehicle and be able to explain what is inspected and why.
• Drive safely, on-site and on the road, including proper signaling, hazard awareness, speed control, lane positioning, and adapting to road conditions, daytime or nighttime.
• Safely load and unload equipment/materials over all terrains, and properly secure loads.
• Responsible for routing fueling, lubricating, and basic servicing of the vehicle.
• Understand air brake systems if the vehicle is equipped with them.
• When not driving, perform tasks around the shop or yard as directed by the shop foreman.
• Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Perform all job functions in a safe manner to avoid personal injury and equipment damage.
• Be open to some labor work when not operating a vehicle and assist ground crews on daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Must have a current and valid Commercial Driver's License for the State of North Carolina.
• High School diploma or equivalent; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; some computer knowledge; good communication skills with customers, sales people, contractors, and shop personnel.
• Previous commercial driving experience.
• DOT certification.
• Must pass a drug test and background screening.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
• Must have good eyesight.
• Able to drive up to 8–10 hours daily.
