Southview Design is hiring: Shovel Truck Driver in Mendota Heights

Overview

Shovel Truck Driver for Southview Design. This is an on-call position for the upcoming snow removal season. The driver transports the shovel crew to client sites and assists with snow and ice removal on driveways, walkways, and parking lots. Hours vary based on weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clear communication with the Zone Coordinator, Area Supervisor, and team members to ensure efficient performance and quality results.
• Safely operate the shovel truck to move the crew and maintain client sites to high standards.
• Complete administrative tasks promptly (e.g., time entry, DOT pre-trip) and adhere to company policies and safety standards.
• Perform snow shoveling and ice removal services from sidewalks, driveways, and other designated areas during active snow events.
• Follow instructions from Zone Coordinator or Area Supervisor, meet deadlines, and maintain the scheduled work.
• Operate sidewalk equipment as needed (sweeper, broom attachment, UTV, snow shovel).
• Apply salt and other de-icing materials as directed; perform ice management activities.
• Inspect vehicles, perform routine maintenance checks, and report mechanical or safety issues promptly.
• Use required PPE and comply with all DOT and company safety regulations; report accidents or hazards immediately.
• Load equipment and materials for snow and ice removal as needed to prepare for each site.
• Perform additional duties as assigned; responsibilities may change as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications: valid driver’s license and insurable driving record; ability to pass a background check; physically fit to meet job demands.
• Educational: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Physical: ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs regularly; able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and perform tasks for extended periods.
• Work environment: exposed to outdoor elements and all weather conditions.
• Schedule: on-call during winter weather; availability 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

Pay and Employment Details

• Position range: $34.00 - $40.00 per hour.
• On-boarding and compliance: employer participates in E-Verify; pays attention to pay transparency and equity.
• Employment type: Part-time, on-call during winter season.
