EG4 Electronics
Role Overview
The Director of Integrations owns the technical and strategic alignment between EG4's product ecosystem (batteries, inverters, MIDs, EV chargers, software, and third-party platforms). This role ensures seamless interoperability across EG4 products, partner devices, and customer systems. The position bridges engineering, product management, compliance, and vendor teams to deliver integration roadmaps that drive customer independence, installer simplicity, and long-term reliability.
This is a hands-on leadership role: part technical program manager, part systems architect, part business strategist. The Director of Integrations will define integration requirements, oversee testing and validation, manage third-party API/protocol relationships, and ensure EG4 solutions work flawlessly in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Product & Technical Integrations
- Own the end-to-end integration strategy for batteries, inverters, MIDs, EV chargers, and monitoring platforms. - Define and maintain communication protocols across the EG4 ecosystem (e.g., Modbus, CANBus, SunSpec, OCPP, ISO 15118). - Drive firmware and software alignment between EG4 products and third-party systems (utilities, VPP platforms, home automation, etc.). - Oversee compatibility validation for new product introductions, ensuring integrations are tested before PO release. - Support cybersecurity, data flow, and interoperability requirements for connected devices.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Work directly with R&D, Product Line Managers, and Engineering to scope, design, and test integrations. - Partner with Customer Solutions (Tech Support, L&D, Documentation) to build field-ready training, troubleshooting, and installer guidance. - Align with Compliance and QA teams to ensure integrations meet regional regulations and utility requirements. - Serve as the internal "source of truth" on what works with what, and where gaps need fixing.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage technical relationships with inverter, battery, EVSE, and software partners - Ensure protocol transparency, IP transfer, and long-term support in vendor contracts. - Act as the integration voice in supplier negotiations, pushing for open standards and simplified installability.
Strategy & Execution
- Build and maintain a multi-year integration roadmap tied to EG4's product launches. - Identify gaps in ecosystem compatibility and propose actionable solutions. - Translate market trends (e.g., V2G, FEOC incentives, NEM changes) into integration priorities. - Ensure integrations are a sales enabler, not a blocker, by reducing friction for installers and homeowners.
Integration Protocols to Oversee
- Battery & Inverter: Modbus RTU/TCP, CANBus, SunSpec profiles, proprietary protocols. - EV Charging (AC/DC Bidirectional): OCPP (1.6/2.0.1), ISO 15118 (V2G/V2H), CHAdeMO/CCS/NACS signaling. - Energy Management & Hubs (Meter Collar, MIDs, GridBoss/FlexBoss): CT/port signaling, IEEE 2030.5, utility DR program integration. - Home/Building Integrations: MQTT/REST APIs, optional BACnet/Modbus for C&I building systems.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to global interoperability and safety frameworks without bogging down in every UL clause. - Maintain alignment with UL/IEC/NFPA/IEEE standards applicable to storage, inverters, EVSE, and metering. - Ensure compliance with grid interconnection requirements (IEEE 1547, NEM rules, AHJ mandates). - Support evolving standards for V2G, utility/VPP programs, cybersecurity, and FEOC/IRA-related incentives.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in energy storage, inverter, EVSE, or power electronics industries, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. - Deep knowledge of communication protocols (Modbus, CAN, SunSpec, OCPP, ISO 15118). - Proven experience integrating multi-vendor hardware/software in solar, storage, or EV environments. - Strong background in compliance testing and grid interconnection standards. - Comfortable working in global supply chain/vendor environments (China, Korea, U.S. assembly). - Excellent communication skills for cross-department alignment and vendor negotiations. - Pragmatic, execution-focused mindset: able to balance long-term strategy with day-to-day problem solving.
Success Metrics
- Seamless product launches with all required integrations validated before release. - Reduction in installer/tech support calls tied to integration failures. - Documented and published integration guides for every EG4 product family. - Secured vendor agreements that guarantee long-term protocol transparency and support. - Delivered roadmap for new integration technologies (e.g., V2G, grid services, home automation) aligned with company strategy.
