There is currently one vacancy in the Maintenance and Operations Department (8 hours per day, 5 days per week, 12 months per year).
This position is assigned to a Wednesday-Sunday workweek, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and receives a 2.5% shift differentia

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform responsible custodial activities including grounds and maintenance work for an assigned secondary school; maintain campus buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition; train, schedule and provide work direction and guidance to assigned staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years increasingly responsible custodial experience.

Job Responsibilities
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Assign and participate in custodial activities at an assigned secondary school site; sweep, scrub, mop, wax and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets; empty waste receptacles.
Assign and participate in cleaning classrooms, cafeterias, lounges, offices and other facilities as assigned; spot mop spills; remove gum debris and graffiti as needed.
Clean and disinfect drinking fountains and restroom facilities including sinks, toilets and urinals; fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paper and other items; clean mirrors, tile and windows.
Train, schedule and provide work direction to assigned staff; prepare cleaning and maintenance schedules including school vacation clean-ups; inspect completed work for accuracy and compliance with instructions and established standards; confer with supervisor regarding work performance of assigned staff.
Maintain records and submit reports including security, maintenance requests, work orders, safety matters, operation costs, use of facilities and related matters; report needs for repairs to the appropriate authority.
Analyze custodial needs; confer with other departments regarding custodial projects and activities at assigned site; prepare work orders.
Maintain facility security by checking doors, windows and lights; set alarms and respond to alarm service requests; respond to emergency custodial requests as needed.
Order, receive, check and distribute custodial supplies and equipment as needed; maintain related inventory records.
Perform a variety of routine general maintenance and repair to equipment and furniture as assigned; operate and adjust heating and ventilation equipment.
Perform and direct the set-up of rooms for meetings and special events; move and arrange furniture and equipment.
Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines and other equipment as assigned.
Operate and check fire extinguishers and related equipment; maintain related records; drive a vehicle to conduct work as needed.

Employees accumulate twelve (12) days of vacation during the first year of employment, increasing up to twenty-two (22) days beginning the 18th year of service, prorated for part-time, 9, 10, and 11 month assignments. Employees accumulate twelve (12) days of paid sick leave per year, with unlimited accumulation, prorated for part-time, 9, 10, and 11 month employees.
RETIREMENT
All employees who are in the classified service and work four (4) hours per day or more are members of the Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) and Federal Social Security. If an employee in the classified service works less than four (4) hours per day they are members of an Alternate Retirement System (PARS) and do not contribute to Social Security. Approximately 7% is deducted from your paycheck for PERS retirement.

This includes medical, vision, dental insurance plans and life insurance for employees. For full-time employees the District pays the employee's health, vision, dental, and life insurance premiums with an employee contribution required for some plans.
